Dr. Michael Flessner is an associate professor and extension weed science specialist at Virginia Tech, where he leads GROW (Getting Rid of Weeds). He earned his BS from the University of Tennessee and both his master’s and PhD from Auburn University. Michael’s research and extension work focus on weed management in corn, soybean, small grains, pastures, and forages, with an emphasis on herbicides, herbicide resistance, cover crops, and harvest weed seed control. He has published 59 peer-reviewed articles, 250+ abstracts, and 21 extension publications, securing over $5.4 million in funding. Michael has advised 11 graduate students and currently serves on 8 committees.
