Farming is a system and oftentimes the crop produced in farming is only as good as the yield limiting factor. Determining that yield limiting factor can be a challenge. In this video, Ben Wiegmann, Field Agronomist with Beck’s Hybrid’s, discusses what Beck’s Hybrids is testing in their Practical Farm Research program to help determine yield limiting factors within different management systems. The study is titled Soybean Success Strategies Omission plot, where they are testing the top 5 yield enhancing factors they have found throughout the years. These factors include planting date, planting population, row spacing, seed treatment, and fungicide applications at the R3 growth stage. Within this study they are adding and subtracting these factors to determine which combination is not only the highest yielding, but more importantly, most profitable. Stay tuned for the results this fall!
