TOREY COLBURN UPDATES

Field work of all types is underway. The last 2 days of 30+mph wind has hampered spraying operations but spring tillage and planting operations are continuing.
A few days of warm temperatures this week will be followed by some cooler temperatures and another chance of rain later this week.
Received 0.3-0.5” of rain late last week. More is in the forecast later this week.
Soil moisture is near normal but the a couple of windy days has pulled away some surface moisture. Planting into moist soil has been easily accomplished.
Corn and soybean planting are both occurring throughout the area.
Just planted to early germination

Significant winter annual weed pressures are common. Spring tillage and herbicide applications are beginning to clean them up. Giant ragweed is emerging in known hot spots and fence lines.
Cover crop fields appear to have significantly less weed pressure from winter annual weeds
