Caption: We did root digs on our sulfur 2.0 trial, to see the difference between AMS/Untreated/ATS. Again, in this trial the AMS shines . Showing a bigger, healthier plant with more nodes and a more robust root system over the others. We also dug roots in the AMS vs 32% trials and the same as present. Stay tune …. More details to come !!
Caption: We attended the Illinois Soybean Association’s field day at the Agronomy Farm. It was a HOT afternoon but we are excited to see the results of the trails come this fall. We are also interested to see what next comes from this site. Thank you to everyone that makes field days like these possible.
Caption: This week we brought in some potash (0-0-60K) Potassium to prepare for our fall season.
SYNOPSIS

Fungicide applications are in full swing this week. Crop dusters, drones, and helicopters fill the sky as they apply to fungicide to protect our crops from unwanted diseases. The weather continues to be unbearably hot and uncomfortable for us and corn plants this week. Soybeans continue to grow looking healthier and fuller by the day.

WEATHER

Hot, hot, hot. Daytime temps this week have been consistently in the mid 90s. Humidity has continued to hold high and steady. Making conditions very uncomfortable to work in. Plants continue to stay wet into the mid-morning from these humid conditions.

PRECIPITATION

No rainfall yet this week, but slim chances throughout the weekend.

FIELD/SOIL CONDITIONS

Soils are now dried out even some fields have cracks in them, despite the amount of rain we have received from the past few months. We would not turn away a rain at this point.

FIELD ACTIVITIES

Post fungicide applications in soybeans have kicked off this week. Planes, helicopters, or drone applications on corn fungicide have been steady for the last week, estimating we are right around 50% covered.

SOYBEAN GROWTH STAGE

Soybean growth stage ranges from VE in double crop situations to R3 in our region. With average bean in that R2 stage.

CORN GROWTH STAGE

Corn Growth Stages ranges from V10-R1 silking with average in our region VT tasseling.

WHEAT GROWTH STAGE

Double-crop soybeans have all been planted and are up, and off to the races.

INSECTS

Japanese beetles seem to be the most prevalent and common insect spotted currently.

ABIOTIC ISSUES

Soybeans do not seem to be struggling this week like they have been in the last few weeks. Corn is showing some stress from the hot days and warm nights by rolling mid-day.

OTHER

A lot of hay, alfalfa, grass, and waterways are being cut and baled this week.
