Illinois growers are encouraged to attend a new webinar series from the Illinois Soybean Association. The checkoff-funded program will highlight best management practices in soybean production and will offer practical tips for improving yields and profitability for the 2015 growing season.

The three-part webinar series kicks off December 3 on www.ILSoyAdvisor.com with a recap of the 2014 growing season  by Emerson Nafziger, Ph.D., professor of crop sciences and extension agronomist at the University of Illinois. Nafziger  will discuss how lessons from 2014 can help growers plan for a successful 2015, and he will also answer grower questions.

The series will continue through February, and topics include:

  • December : “Lessons from a Great Season: The 2014 Illinois Soybean Crop” by Emerson Nafziger, Ph.D., professor of crop sciences and extension agronomist at the University of Illinois
  • January: “Six Secrets of Soybean Success” by Fred Below, Ph.D., professor of plant physiology and crop sciences at the University of Illinois
  • February: “Nutrient Planning and Soybean Management” by Howard Brown, Ph.D., manager of agronomy services with GROWMARK, Inc.

“This program brings the soybean experts to the farmers,” says Don Guinnip, farmer from Marshall, Ill., and ISA production committee chair. “Growers will hear advice from university and industry leaders with specific ideas to increase their yields and profits in 2015.”
