Last week, we wrapped up the ILSoyAdvisor winter meeting tour with a Better Beans event in Carbondale, Illinois. Throughout the months of January and February, the ILSoyAdvisor events brought together key industry experts and local resources to support growers in their efforts to hit higher yields, improve profitability and grow better beans.

We started our Better Beans series in Bloomington, Illinois on January 11th where nearly 70 attendees learned more about nutrient management, cover crops, and weed management.

On January 25th, we traveled west to Quincy, Illinois for another Better Beans stop. Over 40 attendees heard from experts specializing in cover crop management, soybean weed management, and soybean cyst nematode.

Our ILSoyAdvisor team made a stop in Champaign, Illinois on February 2nd for the 2023 Soybean Summit. 250+ growers gathered from across the state with the opportunity to gain agronomic information and insights from leading soybean experts across the country. Topics this year included yield-increasing practices with precision, pest management, understanding biological products, the future of conservation and nutrient management, navigation of the carbon space, value-added with high yield soybean opportunities, “Science for Success” participants, as well as exclusive farmer panels. The Soybean Summit also hosted the first student researcher poster competition. For a recap, click here.

Our last stop was in sunny and warm Carbondale, Illinois on February 23rd. We welcomed over 40 attendees to Southern Illinois University and speakers talked about cation exchange capacity, soil health, pest management, and long term success for weed control.

We will share video recordings from Soybean Summit and Better Beans in the weeks to come. Subscribe to the Illinois Soybean Association YouTube channel to get notified when videos are uploaded. Our team will also be sharing them to the blog section on ILSoyAdvisor.com.

With the calendar turning towards spring, our team will be out in the fields as you plant your crop. Looking towards summer, our team will be hosting field talks and tailgate talks. More information to come about our summer field events! I recommend subscribing to our ILSoyAdvisor newsletter – this resource will come straight to your inbox every two weeks and keep you up-to-date of ILSoyAdvisor events happening across the state as well as partner events.
