Field Advisor Awards
Master Adviser Award
ISA created the Master Adviser award in 2016 as part of its mission to help Illinois soybean farmers be the most knowledgeable and profitable soybean producers in the world. The award acknowledges the significant role Illinois Certified Crop Advisers (CCAs) play in improving soybean production by offering insight and advice on practices to improve yield and profitability. Any Illinois CCA whose certification is active, is interested and involved in soybean management, and works with farmers can be nominated for the Soybean Master Adviser award.
Nominations for the 2027 Master Adviser Award will open in Fall 2026.

Dave Rahe Excellence in Soils Consulting Award
The Dave Rahe Excellence in Soils Consulting award is an accolade given to one Illinois CCA nominated for their excellence in soils consulting within Illinois soybean production systems, named in honor of former CCA Soy Envoy, Dave Rahe.
Rahe was an ISA CCA Soy Envoy in 2019 and was passionate about soil management, having spent the majority of his career specializing in the field. He passed away suddenly in April 2020, but during his year as a CCA Soy Envoy, Dave authored blogs for Field Advisor covering topics such as soil compaction, micronutrient management, cover crops, and more.
Nominations for the 2027 Dave Rahe Excellence in Soils Consulting Award will open in Fall 2026.

Kris Reynolds is a Certified Crop Adviser (CCA) with more than 24 years of experience advancing soil science, soil health, and conservation agriculture across Illinois soybean production systems. He currently serves as Midwest Regional Director and Central Managing Director for American Farmland Trust, where he leads watershed partnerships and supports implementation of Illinois’ Nutrient Loss Reduction Strategy. Reynolds began his career as a Resource Conservationist with the Montgomery County Soil and Water Conservation District, working directly with farmers to implement sustainable land management practices, and later served as a Cover Crop Specialist with the Illinois Council on Best Management Practices. A CCA specializing in nutrient management and sustainability, Reynolds takes a farmer-first approach to conservation, emphasizing practical, economically viable strategies such as cover crops, no-till systems, and 4R nutrient stewardship. He has implemented these practices on his own farm in Nokomis, Illinois, since 2013, allowing him to pair technical expertise with firsthand, on-farm experience. Reynolds holds a bachelor’s degree in agronomy and agricultural business from Illinois State University and is recognized for his collaborative leadership, applied conservation knowledge, and commitment to improving soil health, water quality, and long-term farm profitability.
