SHELBY WECKEL UPDATES
It has been a whirlwind of a week. Cooler weather to begin the week and growers taking advantage of windows of opportunities to plant and finding fields that will plant.
Finishing the week with what was supposed to be a dry spell, but areas ended up getting rained out!
We were fair weathered to start the week and went into the weekend with a heatwave. The humidity brought some pretty heavy thunderstorms on Sundaay with 0% chance of rain!
.55 for the week in Flatville. Unfortunately many areas caught some heavy rains last night, 5/19 from pop up showers. I have heard reports of upwards of 3″.
The top soils has dried out but underneath it is moist and still muchy in some locations. Growers are having to jump around to find fields that are fit.
Not planted, to just planted to VE.
Not planted, to just planted, VE-V4 for early planted.
Bean leaf beetles are present. I have found them in different plants since soybeans are not a large food source available right now.
WATERHEMP! Soybean stubble that will be planted as corn is becoming an absolute mess. I have seen waterhemp at 5″ tall already.
