Caption: Estimating corn yields now that pollination is complete
SYNOPSIS
Crop conditions are good. Soybeans are looking better than the corn on average. Lots of tip back in the corn but there are bigger kernels than usual so the yield drop may not be as bad.
WHICH OF THE FOLLOWING BEST DESCRIBES CURRENT CONDITIONS IN THIS COUNTY?
Moderately Wet (soil is damp, standing water may be present in low areas, water bodies are full)
IF CONDITIONS ARE ON THE DRY END, WHICH OF THE FOLLOWING US DROUGHT MONITOR CATEGORIES BEST FIT CURRENT CONDITIONS
Near Normal (Dnada)
WEATHER
Sunny and 90 degress
PRECIPITATION
None today
FIELD/SOIL CONDITIONS
Wetter than normal. Some water standing in compacted areas
FIELD ACTIVITIES
Some later planted beans are getting fungicide, other than that, not much.
WEEDS
Waterhemp is starting to come through I most bean fields. The dryer weather during herbicide applications I think has caused some of this due to lack of activation.
DISEASES
Little to no disease in corn. Small amounts of northern corn leaf blight and some grey leaf spot
