SYNOPSIS

Goodfield had 3.6” of rain over the last week. Ponds are once again visible in the fields. The moisture will help alleviate the Dicamba damage on the soybeans locally. Lower temperatures this week will give some added relief. The moisture and low temps may set up for a conducive disease environment. Scout fields and evaluate disease progression.

Some wheat in the area has been combined but not all of the fields.

WEEDS

Lots of questions on weed control in soybeans. Options are limited once soybeans begin to flower. Yield damage can occur if soybeans are sprayed off label. Herbicide tolerance does not equal herbicide resistance. Many herbicides only control weeds less than 6” tall – on label applications may lower weed seed production but may not kill the weeds. Adjust your expectations accordingly.

DISEASES

Scout this week to begin monitoring disease present and gauge the progression.

ABIOTIC ISSUES

Saturated soils and ponding is an issue – nutrient deficiencies will become evident if the situation persists.
