Caption: V1 corn, recently planted. This field was the same as the standing water I’ve posted in a previous report. Fields are still being planted in the area. Finally a good run.
SYNOPSIS

It’s a race to finish planting before the forecasted rain.

Mildly Wet (soil is wetter than normal, local vegetation is healthy)
WEATHER

Finally a dry stretch to get a significant amount of acres and planted in the area.

PRECIPITATION

Forecasted for the weekend but we’ve had a great week of weather.

Dry enough to plant. Good moisture underneath.

WEEDS

Waterhemp is tall in places. Calls from Iowa on Giant Ragweed in soybeans uncontrolled and field horsetail in corn (NIGHTMARE!!!). Corn in northern Illinois is pushing herbicide label restrictions.

COVER CROP INSIGHTS

All the cover crops appear to finally be terminated. Many fields will have a good mulch layer to help control weeds.
