Top inch of soil is dry but still moisture just below. Cool nights are helpful in conserving moisture but not great for plant growth. This next week will be challenging in many places with dry soil and incoming heat wave.

Keep an eye on fields to determine postemergence herbicide application timing. Weed height is important to achieve good control.
Some areas are dry. Applying residual herbicides without rain in the forecast to incorporate them needs to be re-evaluated. Consider controlling emerged weeds now but holding residuals until weather is more favorable. A rain would bring in a flush of weeds making a second post trip necessary.
