With more than 20 years of variety trial experience, Darin has served as the cornerstone of the University of Illinois’ Variety Testing program. By overseeing the state’s soybean, corn and wheat variety testing, he helps ensure the state’s farmers are equipped with the best information when making their annual seed purchase decisions. In addition to his work with variety trials, Darin now manages the University of Illinois Crop Sciences Research and Education Center.

Which Soybean Varieties Have Higher Protein and Oil Content so I Can Capitalize on Premium Pricing?2024-11-05T10:23:24-06:00

Variety trials are planted across the state’s major soil types and maturity zones. By using the SCIO CNST NIR technology on the combine, researchers can more quickly determine the protein and oil content of each tested variety. Farmers can access performance data on the UI Variety Trial website at vt.cropsci.illinois.edu.
